How an Electronic Cigarette Works
There are 3 main parts to an electronic cigarette:
- The Filter
- The Atomiser
- The Rechargeable Battery
The filter is the part of the electronic cigarette that holds the e-liquid or e-juice as is it sometimes referred too. This is the liquid that is heated and vaporized by the atomiser and gives the smoker the feeling of smoking a normal cigarette, this liquid usually has a small concentration of nicotine so that the smoker feels satisfied after a few puffs. The nicotine in the e-liquid is less than the nicotine found in normal cigarettes, the smoker has the ability to choose the amount of nicotine that is contained in the e-juice. E-liquid or e-juice is available in a wide variety of different flavors, example Turkish tobacco, dark tobacco, vanilla, apple, caramel, watermelon and many, many more.
The atomiser is the part of the electronic cigarette that heats up the e-liquid that is dripped from the filter. The atomiser has a wire element which is heated, once the e-liquid is heated it creates a vapor where the user can inhale, giving the sensation of a real cigarette. The smoke or better yet the vapor it produces is virtually odorless and dissipates in a matter of seconds. Sometimes the atomiser can is referred to as the evaporator.
The rechargeable battery is the unit that gives the power to the atomiser so it can heat the element inside the atomiser. Although there is a huge range of batteries on the market the most common are the ones with a button (manual battery). The button is pressed which activates the heating process as the smoker takes a puff. The button is released just before the end so that the atomiser gets deactivated. The Automatic battery (without a button) is activated by a sensor when the user takes a puff, there are pros and cons between the two batteries but this depends on what a user prefers. Usually there is a LED light at the end of the battery which lights up when the e-cigarette is working.
